  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 4 cinnamon sticks (or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon)
  • 4 vanilla beans (split and scraped or 4 teaspoons vanilla extract)
  • 2 star anises (optional)
  • 4 teaspoons loose-leaf black tea or 4 black tea bags (optional)
  • Honey or other sweetener of choice

Instructions

  1. Boil the water in a small pot.
  2. Add cinnamon sticks and split vanilla beans to the boiling water; cover and steep for 10 minutes.
  3. If using, add black tea and steep for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  4. Warm the milk in another pot until hot but not boiling.
  5. Strain the infusion into the warmed milk.
  6. Sweeten to taste with honey or your preferred sweetener, stirring until dissolved.
