Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream (full-fat)
  • Fresh chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut each chicken breast in half lengthwise to create thinner cutlets. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil and one tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken cutlets and cook for 5–6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (165°F). Transfer to a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat slightly, add the remaining butter, then sauté sliced onions for 10–15 minutes until soft and lightly browned.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan, then mix in sour cream until smooth. Heat gently for about two minutes.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over each piece. Adjust seasoning as needed before serving.
