  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels; dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar while warm.
