  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold, cut into cubes)
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add water gradually until the dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate.
  2. For the filling, slice apples and sauté them with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water until just tender.
  3. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out half the dough for the bottom crust in a pie dish. Fill with apple mixture and cover with the top crust.
  4. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle brown sugar on top. Bake for about 80 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving warm slices topped with vanilla ice cream.
