Scale
  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add cold water gradually until it forms dough.
  2. Chill the dough wrapped in plastic for about 30 minutes.
  3. For the filling, peel and slice apples. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and cook apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and salt until tender.
  4. Roll out one disc of chilled dough into your pie dish. Fill with apple mixture and cover with the second rolled-out disc; seal edges and cut slits for steam.
  5. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for approximately 80 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
