  • 3 Tablespoons maple syrup

  • 2 ½ Tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 Tablespoon corn starch
  • 2 Tablespoons water (or more if needed)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apple filling by cooking chopped apples with sugar, lemon juice, spices, and cornstarch until softened. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine the cubed French bread with whisked eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and spices. Let it soak for 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a muffin pan with parchment liners.
  4. Fill each cavity with the soaked bread mixture; create an indentation in the center. Spoon apple filling on top.
  5. Mix melted butter with maple syrup and pecans; sprinkle over each cup.
  6. Bake for about 10 minutes, then add the topping and bake for an additional 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
